At Penzance Gymnastics Club we run an in-house Leadership programme for aspiring coach’s from age 11yrs upwards.
We have 2 tiers to this system that Leaders progress through to develop their confidence, people-skills and coaching techniques.

Mini Leaders 11-13yrs
Mini Leaders is a programme we have developed for our youngest aspiring coach’s. Our Mini Leaders assist the Coach’s in Recreational Gymnastics sessions by joining in the lead warm ups and cool downs; demonstrating techniques and skills on apparatus; and being a friendly face to talk to!
They also complete a logbook to note down their skills and then have the opportunity when they turn 14yrs old to progress into our Young Leaders programme.
Young Leaders 14-16yrs
Young Leaders is a programme we have developed to continue developing our Mini Leaders and progressing them through to the Coaching pathway.
Our Young Leader’s take on more responsibility in our Recreational & Advanced Recreational classes by leading warm ups/cool downs; demonstrating and coaching skills on apparatus; and take more ownership in classes. Once they turn 16yrs old, we then look to place them on a British Gymnastics Coaching qualification to become a Level 1 qualified Coach and gain paid employment in the club.
